Southwestern offers a variety of programs for adults, children, adolescents and families in the southwestern Pennsylvania area.

Intensive Children's Behavioral Health Services

Our Intensive Children's Behavioral Health Services/Kid's Programs are 8-week skills acquisition and building groups for your children and adolescents.

In addition to individual and family therapy, Southwestern Human Services is proud to provide specialized groups for children and adolescents. With all of our groups, children and adolescents are grouped according to identified needs and ages.

Groups typically meet for an hour-and-a-half at our Bethel Park office. Call Joanna Strang-Kuczma at (412) 831-1223 for scheduling information.

Social Skills Group

SHS offers Social Skills Training for children and adolescents with mental health concerns. The 8-week groups are designed to assist young people in acquiring necessary skills to enhance their experience in social situations, as well as their interpersonal relationships with peers, family members and others. The approach is psycho-educational in nature, and focuses on providing experiential learning opportunities. The groups are conducted by Master’s level therapists.

By participating in the group, children will learn and practice:

  • Anger management;
  • Self-esteem building;
  • Understanding their feelings and the feelings of others;
  • Expressing themselves constructively;
  • Having fun;
  • Their role in the family;
  • Creating and maintaining relationships.

Group dates and times are available by contacting us at the numbers above or by e-mailing us. We look forward to hearing from you!
